Who built blocks.md?
This project is built and maintained by Tahmid Khan Nafee (that's me). I'm a full stack web developer in my late-20's. I first started programming in 2014, and went head-first into a startup as a technical co-founder in 2016, so I've been doing this for quite some time.
When it comes to my tech stack of choice, I'm proficient in Python (Django), JavaScript, TypeScript, SQL, and CSS. I'm also unusually design-oriented as a developer, so I have a lot of confidence in my product design skills.
Previously, I've built and maintained Halfmoon, which is an open source CSS framework that can be used as a drop-in replacement for Bootstrap.
I'm generally quite low-key about putting up pictures and personal information on the web, but if you send me an email or book a call, I'll be glad to answer any questions you may have for me.
Why did you build this?
I love software such as Typeform, Notion, Airtable, Google Sheets, etc. Basically anything that lets users do something useful without having to do a lot of work is a good idea to me. I also love Markdown, which is possibly the best way to author content on the web.
On the other hand, I dislike clunky web apps, having all my content locked in one platform, and I'm certainly not a fan of software sold as expensive lock-in subscriptions.
I built blocks.md to combine the things I love, while avoiding the things I dislike. It lets you build incredible forms and web pages (which are very useful) without having to interact with a clunky web app—just write Markdown! Moreover, you always keep your files, and it's sold as a one-time payment.
In general, it follows different philosophies and movements that I personally really like, such as Once, File over app, etc. If you want to support us, please consider buying a license and helping us grow.
